An introduction to legacies | Professional advice

Professional advice

While it is possible to make your own home-made will, we strongly recommend that you use a solicitor or will-writer, to ensure that your will is valid and that it achieves for your loved ones what you intend.

Although a professional will make a charge for preparing your will, this is a lot cheaper than having to engage a solicitor later on to untangle the mess caused by an inadequate or invalid will.

You may already have a family solicitor or know of a will writer you can use to update or to make a will. If not, you can find one at www.lawsociety.org.uk or www.thesocietyofwillwriters.co.uk

CLDF can also put you in touch with a firm of will writers which has kindly offered a discount off its fees for our supporters. Please contact us on 0121 212 3839 for details.
