Big Yellow Friday | Why we need Big Yellow Friday

Why we need Big Yellow Friday

• Every year liver disease affects more children than childhood leukaemia
• Nearly three children are diagnosed with a liver disease every day in the UK
• There are over 100 different liver diseases affecting children – most are life threatening and are totally indiscriminate as to whom they will attack
• In most cases there is no cure, just palliative treatments, including liver transplant
• We do not know the cause of most childhood liver diseases
• Thousands of families are living day in, day out with the misery of liver disease
• Liver disease can affect any child at any age

CLDF is at the heart of fighting childhood liver disease

Our pioneering research programme is at the heart of our work carried out by CLDF.  We play a pivotal role in advancing understanding of the causes, diagnosis and treatments for childhood liver disease, taking knowledge from bench to bedside.  The education and support programmes that emanate from this offer practical and emotional assistance to families and young people, based on their individual needs.

There is only one charity fighting childhood liver disease and helping to pick up the pieces for families - Children’s Liver Disease Foundation

CLDF funded research has helped save lives.  Through its work and determination, children are alive today who would otherwise have died.

Three quarters of CLDF’s annual income comes from supporters and members of the public.

Please help us to continue to support new and existing families and give them hope, by joining in on Big Yellow Friday, 7 March 2008.
