A record number of families and supporters attended the CLDF annual conference which took place on Saturday 7th October at the National Motor-cycle Museum near Birmingham. Once again a distinguished panel of expert speakers gave presentations and answered questions on many aspects of paediatric liver disease. For many the talks given by a patients and parents were a highlight of the day. The event included: • Presentations by chairman Tom Ross and chief executive Catherine Arkley • Parent Nathan Hawley gave a moving account of being parent of a child with liver disease, and also how CLDF have supported his family • Five ‘parallel sessions’ for delegates to choose from including getting to know the ropes, lets talk – a session for young people, living with liver disease, a session with CLDF’s family support officers, hot topics which included a series of talks discussing moving from paediatric to adult services, and a session on biliary atresia • The ever popular ‘question time’ which featured a panel of twelve experts taking questions from the floor. Thank you to everyone who supported the raffle and helped to raise a brilliant £370 on the day. Prizes were kindly donated by The Tussauds Group, who run attractions including Alton Towers, Chessington World of Adventure, Thorpe Park & Madame Tussaud’s, and LEGOLAND Windsor As always CLDF is extremely grateful to everyone who helps make the day such a success, in particular the team of volunteers from the City of Birmingham Round Table and St John Ambulance who supervised the popular trip to Drayton Manor theme park for the young people, and Children’s Hospital play specialists and volunteers who looked after children in the crèche. We look forward to seeing you at the 2007 conference. Details will be posted when available. .jpg) .jpg)
