Do Something Simple

Silly Olympics

Don’t let elite athletes have all the fun this summer …

Silly Olympics
are a great way to have fun with your friends and colleagues, join in with the competitive spirit of the London 2012 games and raise much needed funds for CLDF at the same time.

You can hold Silly Olympic games at lunchtime at school or in the office or organise a whole day of Silly Olympic antics. Click here to download our Silly Olympics event guide. (PDF, 96KB)

Shop online and raise funds for CLDF

Visit www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/cldf to visit online shops such as Amazon, John Lewis, M&S, play.com and many others and earn commission for CLDF on any purchases you make.

There are also links to travel, motoring, utility and finance sites, and you can save money when registering with RAC online.

Ebay for charity

Selling unwanted items and gifts on ebay is a great way to de-clutter, and raise vital funds for CLDF. While listing an item on eBay you can choose to donate a percentage, or all, of your item's final selling price to CLDF.

Your item will feature a charity ribbon, our name and logo and the percentage you are donating so that buyers know that they are supporting a worthy cause.  Once your auction has ended, your donation will automatically be processed for you.

To set up an auction for CLDF:
  1. Visit the Ebay for Charity website
  2. Register for your eBay and MissionFish seller accounts
  3. Choose an item to sell
  4. Write an item title and description
  5. List your item on eBay and indicate that it will benefit CLDF
  6. Complete your transaction - MissionFish will collect your donation, claim Gift Aid (if you declared) and pass both on to us

Small change, big difference

CLDF has a new home collection box that’s neat, durable and colourful to collect those pesky pieces of loose change weighing down your pockets and purse.

It’s amazing how quickly they fill up and when yours is full, just empty it, deposit the money in your bank account and pay it in to CLDF by cheque, online or over the phone. Then start filling your box again.

Email the fundraising team or call 0121 212 6022 to request your box.

PS – why not ask your family and friends if they’ll have a box too?

Throw a dinner party

Having friends over for dinner is fun. Now you can use this new website to handle invitations, the menu and donations, making it easy for your guests to support CLDF’s vital work at the same time.

A group could host dinners over a number of weeks or have a course at each other’s house on each night. You could even pick a country’s cuisine to represent and host a culinary tour of the globe!

Visit dinner4good.com/CLDF to organise your dinner party now.

Waitrose Community Matters is a wonderful scheme designed to put a share of Waitrose profits back into local communities. Three local charities or causes are supported each month. Each branch gives £1000 per month which is divided proportionally between the three nominated causes.

To nominate CLDF, pick up a nomination form from the customer service welcome desk at your local branch.

Help to raise money for CLDF by ordering your flowers via Charity Flowers Direct.

CLDF will receive 15% of the price of the flowers you order through this service when you quote our reference code - CLD.

Charity Flowers Direct is the UK's only flowers by post service to be wholly owned by a charity - Age Concern.  It is run for the benefit of charities and all profits go to charity.

Click here to view the range of flowers available or call 0870 5300 600 to place your order.

Don’t forget to quote CLD to ensure the Foundation receives your contribution.

Mobile Phone Recycling

Most mobile phones can be reused, refurbished or recycled. CLDF can turn your old mobile phone into funds to help fight childhood liver disease. Each donated phone could raise up to £50!

It is estimated that over 15 million mobile phones are discarded in the UK each year and just 10% of these mobiles are recycled. Simply send your old phone to us and a specialist recycling company will reuse, refurbish or recycle your phone raising vital funds for CLDF.

We have teamed up with mobile phone recycling company ShP solutions to offer a recycling service which will help raise funds for CLDF.

We have freepost envelopes available for you to despatch your old mobile. If you have ten or more phones we can arrange a free courier collection – so why not ask friends, family or ask your workplace to also take part.

Call 0121 212 6022 to order your envelopes.

  • Remove the SIM card from your phone
  • Place the phone in an the special freepost envelope
  • Seal the envelope and post it using the freepost address
  • If you have ten or more handsets, call ShP on 0207 288 6535 to arrange a collection
