Supporting health professionals

CLDF is keen to support your work caring for children and young people with liver disease and their families; our services now extend to adults diagnosed in childhood.

Over the next year we will be liaising with both paediatric and adult units involved in the provision of adolescent and transitional services.  If you would like to talk to us about how CLDF can be involved in your unit, send us an email.

We publish regular e-news for professionals.  Click here to subscribe.

Resources

CLDF supplies resources free of charge to UK teams caring for hepatology patients. You can sign-post families and young people to this website to download copies or they can contact CLDF directly.

To assist you with signposting, CLDF is able to provide units with the following:

  • CLDF Introduction Packs (contains key information for new families including Guide to the Liver, Glossary of Terms and Routine Investigations for Liver Disease).
  • CLDF signpost card (business card size giving information on website links and what CLDF has to offer).
  • CLDF A5 posters – designed for wards to signpost families and young people to CLDF services
  • Medical leaflets
  • Nutrition leaflets
  • Yellow alert campaign leaflets
  • Hepatitis C leaflets

Family services

CLDF services enable families and young people to share and meet with others and we also provide support projects for the extended family and friends. Find out more about our family services here.

Ward presentations

Ward staff develop strong relationships with families and can support their families more fully by telling them about what CLDF has to offer.  CLDF has a short presentation for ward staff delivered by the families and young persons teams.  Click here if you would like to talk to someone about a presentation at your unit.

“Since learning more about CLDF we have ensured families are aware of the charity, and now feel more equipped to point families and young people in its direction. I feel I am also providing a real service to the patients and families in my care,” says a member of staff from the Rays of Sunshine Ward at King’s College Hospital, London.
