What can go wrong and what can be done

What happens if the liver goes wrong?

Some conditions require no treatment and will resolve.

There are treatments available and will be dependent upon the diagnosis in your child. Treatments available include:

  • Medicines
  • Special diets
  • Surgical operations

These treatments may not cure the condition but often control it, allowing the child to grow and develop.

If these treatments are not appropriate or fail to control the condition, then a liver transplant is possible in some, but not all, conditions.
