Carlton Tower gala dinner 2007
CLDF's celebrity chef gala fundraising dinner, which took place at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower hotel in London on 22 March, raised a fantastic £105,000 to help CLDF continue its fight against childhood liver disease. Executive chef of the hotel, Simon Young, hosted the evening, with four celebrity 'cooking' chefs - Michael Caines, Richard Corrigan, Paul Gayler and presenter of the BBC's Saturday Kitchen programme, James Martin - each designing and preparing a dish for the 350 guests, which included 35 of the industry's leading chefs. CLDF patrons broadcaster Sue Cook and Colin Buchanan - costar of the BBC's Dalziel & Pascoe detective series, gave their support for the event which was presented by actress Lynda Bellingham. Funds were raised through ticket sales, raffle and an auction of ‘money can’t buy’ items including tea at The Ritz with Joanna Lumley. Thank you to everyone who contributed in so many ways to make the evening such a success, including Jade Phillips and Joshua Buckingham who won CLDF's 'chef for a day' competition and helped Simon and his team prepare for the event.
