Fundraising ideas
Fundraising for CLDF not only raises much needed funds to help us continue to fight against childhood liver disease, it also helps to raise awareness of childhood liver disease and the work of the Foundation; something we cannot place a value on. There are hundreds ways to fundraise - all of which should be fun! Here are just a few ideas to help inspire you. Call Up Your Friends Themed Event - For example an Italian day where everything is themed around Italy, you could raffle Italian items such as pasta, pizza and wine, arrange for your school/ company canteen to sell Italian food and even design a quiz sheet based on Italian facts Coffee Morning - as well as selling refreshments, you could sell cakes, biscuits, crafts and bric-a-brac Wine Tasting Evening - You may wish to organise a wine tasting evening for colleagues, friends and family. Sell tickets prior to the event and maybe hold a raffle on the night Dinner/Dance - Maybe turn a planned get-together into an easy fundraiser by asking for small contributions from guests or by holding some games or a quiz on the evening. Alternatively, with a little advance planning and some help from local businesses, organising a dinner/dance in a local venue for family, friends and colleagues can be a great way to raise funds while getting everyone you know together for a fun night out! Get Active!
A sponsored event such as a run or cycle Are you a member of a gym? Hold a sponsored aerobics/exercise bike/rowing machine marathon Take part in a parachute jump FOR FREE! Contact the CLDF office for an information pack
Fundraising in the workplace Raffle/tombola - get a local business (or yours!) to donate a prize Quick Comps - bring in your baby photos and guess who’s who, wear a silly tie, organise a guessing game. Charge people to enter, winner gets 25% and the rest helps fight childhood liver disease Out tray sale - bring in unwanted Xmas and birthday presents, pop them in your tray and auction them off Quizzes - email your colleagues a quiz (with, say, 25 questions!) and charge them to enter. Make up your own, use the internet or contact the CLDF office for question/answer sheets
Join our ongoing campaigns Tell people about www.buy.at/CLDF . Reach online shops such as Amazon, M&S, John Lewis and Play.com via this site and CLDF receive commission on each purchase - contact us for flyers or more information Green CLDF - join our cartridge recycling scheme
Get youngsters involved with these fun fundraisers: Collect 25 5ps and then ask an adult to send us a cheque. Can you collect them faster than friends or siblings? Get guessing! Fill a jam jar with sweets, nuts or 1ps and ask people to pay a small amount to guess the number - the winner gets the contents. How many times can you skip, spin a hula-hoop, circle the playground three-legged, or bounce on a trampoline or bouncy castle? Why not find out and get sponsored per skip/spin/lap/bounce!?
See if your school will hold a non-uniform day or why not ask for a wear something yellow day? Pupils pay 50p-£1 to wear a yellow hat, scarf, gloves, handbag, wig and so on top of your school uniform - may be easier to convince the teachers this way! How about a sponsored event? Swim-athons with friends taking it in turns to swim 25 metres are great, or you could try running, skateboarding, dribbling a football or cycling Football match - Add a twist such as Girls versus Boys, the girls wear shorts and the boys wear tennis skirts. Charge teams to enter or get sponsors. Why not sell refreshments at half time? Hold a Teddy Bear’s Picnic. A good excuse for a get-together. Charge admission, have games, sell refreshments and crafts. Hold a teddy race - supply bits of string (or even fishing rods), competitors attach their toys, all move the same distance away and then race to reel them in
Fun food competitions - think you can eat a set number of jelly babies/chewy sweets/cocktail sausages/cream crackers faster than your friends? Hold a competition (charging a small fee to join in, of course) and settle it once and for all If you are organising a fundraising event on behalf of CLDF, we would like to hear about it! We may be able to help you maximise the fundraising potential and can provide specific event guides. We would also like to learn from your experience so that we can advise others undertaking similar events in the future - and we would like to thank you!
