Parachute Jumps

parachute jump ‘Amazing’ and ‘exhilarating’ are just a couple of the words regularly used by supporters to describe the adrenaline rush that comes from jumping from an aeroplane at up to 10,000ft, freefalling at speeds of 120mph, before riding their parachute down to the dropzone!

There are three types of jumps available:

Tandem – harnessed to an instructor, you jump from up to 10,000 feet!

Static line – jump solo from at least 2,000 feet! Includes one days training and a jump on the second day

Accelerated free fall – skydive solo from 10,000 feet!!!

You can do the jump on your own, ask family and friends to join you, or do with a group of colleagues as part a corporate fundraiser.

There are 25 British Parachute Association approved centres around the country where you can complete your jump and if you raise the minimum sponsorship amount required you can jump for free!  The amount of sponsorship required depends on the type of jump you undertake, but can be as little as £360.

Request a parachute pack or contact the fundraising department for more information on 0121 212 6022.

If you are ready to take the plunge you can also now book  your jump online.

"To all those who have never done it and wouldn't even dream of doing it, it is the greatest thing in the world! Truly amazing!"   Stephen Canning - who completed a parachute jump for CLDF in August 2006

Phil and Patrice Lyth did a accelerated feefall (AFF) jump and tandem jump respectively to celebrate their silver wedding anniversary.

Phil: " It goes against all your natural instincts to perch on the edge of the aircraft doorway and then throw yourself off but it was an awesome experience. I think the freefall lasted about 50 seconds and then canopy ride was brilliant, it was so peaceful with an amazing view. I made a perfect landing, according to my trainers!"

Patrice: "I'd looked forward to the jump for so long and it surpassed all expectations! You find out a lot about yourself in these situations and it is amazing what you can do if you try. The whole experience was fantastic!"
