Great Scottish Walks

One of Scotland’s premiere fundraising events, Great Scottish Walks and Great Wee Scottish Walks take place in Spring 2008.

Entries are now being taken online at www.greatscottishwalk.com for the 11th year of this popular walking event.

New for 2008 – a second Great Scottish walk has been added to the schedule to take place at Glasgow Green and like the original Edinburgh walk offers a choice of three distances that walkers can choose to complete according to their ability levels. (1 mile, 6 miles or 12 miles).

A new wee walk (for children) has also been added at Galston, East Ayrshire.

The walks encourage all ages and all fitness abilities to take part, with lots of people dressing up on the day.

The walk circuits are designed to take in the cities scenery with gradients to offer a varied route to the walkers. Along the way walkers and supporters will be treated to entertainment along the route and when they reach the finishing line they are greeted with a carnival atmosphere in the form of vibrant music from samba bands and the announcement and cheering of entrants across the finishing line.

You can enter as an individual or as part of a team (teams can consist of a minimum of four and a maximum of six walkers) and you can choose to take on either the ‘Golden Mile’, 6 or 12 mile route.
