Great Day At Southampton Bowling

Ten local families came along to Eastleigh AMF on 4 February for a game of bowls, lunch, the chance to win some fun raffle prizes and the opportunity to meet others in the same situation.

Laura Meehan, Young Persons Officer at CLDF said “Saturday’s event was a great opportunity for families in this area to meet in an informal setting, share their experiences and have fun. It’s particularly valuable for young people with a liver disease to meet others in the same situation and realise they are not alone. This was the first family event we’ve done in the Southampton. It was great to work with the specialist liver team from Southampton General Hospital and we’ve been delighted with the response we’ve had.”

Dr Nadeem Afzal, Consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist at Southampton General, who attended with his colleagues, Child Heath Manager, Heidi Smoult and gastroenterology specialist nurse, Mick Cullen, added: “The day was great fun for the families and for us. CLDF has been helping children, teenagers and families visiting our paediatric liver clinics as well as the transitional liver clinics in Southampton. Their help is most appreciated. We continue to look forward working together with the Foundation in 2012 and beyond.”
