CLDF establishes 'Unique' insurance agreement - 18/02/08
Children's Liver Disease Foundation, the only organisation in the UK fighting all liver diseases of childhood, has established a partnership with Unique, a specialist scheme from independent insurance broker Heath Lambert for people living with pre-existing medical conditions. The partnership means that children with liver disease and their families can enjoy trips abroad with comprehensive travel insurance, which has previously been difficult to obtain. Catherine Arkley, chief executive at Children’s Liver Disease Foundation, said: "Many insurance companies will not provide cover, and those that do often charge a lot more for the privilege. Unique is now able to offer these families comprehensive and competitive travel insurance and CLDF has been pleased to work with the team to create this solution, which we know will make a huge difference to families living every day with childhood liver disease.”
Some of the key benefits include: • No referral for medical screening means cover is quick and easy to purchase. • No confirmation of medication is required, just the number of medications taken. • No age limits on single trip policies. • The cover is underpinned by a 24-hour medical emergency service. Heath Lambert has a proven track record in providing tailored insurance and financial solutions and services for charities and their members and supporters, including some of the top UK medical charities. Diane Caplehorn, the Unique account manager for Heath Lambert Insurance Services, explained: “We have worked closely with Children’s Liver Disease Foundation to ensure that our Unique scheme meets the needs of the families affected by childhood liver disease and are confident that our offering is the best available on the market. Our specialists are on hand to provide support and our past experience with insurance for medical charities means that we have been able to adapt the service we provide, to ensure that we meet and surpass requirements. I am also delighted to report that we have arranged for Children’s Liver Disease Foundation to receive a donation for each policy sold, at no extra cost to the purchaser.” Ends Further information from Rachel Markham at CLDF on 0121 212 6012 or e-mail communications@childliverdisease.org Notes to editors Children’s Liver Disease Foundation is a unique national charity that fights childhood liver diseases through funding pioneering research and educating healthcare professionals and the general public.
