•    Applications

All applications must be made using the 2010 application form, which can be downloaded here.  Applications may be made electronically.

Late applications will not be accepted.

•    Review Process

Children’s Liver Disease Foundation is a member of the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC) and abides by their best practice guidelines and membership criteria.  All applications are subject to peer review.  The following process will take place:

    CLDF will assign a member of its Scientific Committee to act as lead reviewer on each application.  Applicants will not be informed of the name of the lead internal reviewer for their application.

    The lead internal reviewer will put forward names for CLDF to approach to provide a review of the application.  Further reviewer names will be sought from the Scientific Committee chairman and the CLDF Honorary Medical Adviser.  A copy of the assessor’s review form is available on this site.

    Wherever possible, CLDF will make every endeavour to pass a copy of the reviewers open comments (which will remain anonymous) to applicants and invite a response, where time permits.  This will be undertaken by email.  Responses will be tabled at the grants review meeting.

•    Approval of Scientific Committee recommendations for awards

The Scientific Committee will make recommendations for funding to the board of trustees for their final decision.

•    Feedback

    All applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application.

    Feedback will be provided in a written format to non-successful applicants, if requested, but no further correspondence will be entered into beyond this.

•    Use of animals in research

Children’s Liver Disease Foundation will make awards to projects which involve the use of animals, subject to all relevant legislation and good practice principles being adhered to by the research team.  Applications involving the use of experiments in animals will be accepted, provided they are accompanied by an additional questionnaire which asks for further details on the use of animals in research.
