Informing CLDF of a child’s death: Often we are not told of a child’s death because of hospital confidentiality. If you feel that you can not contact us yourself, please ask the hospital, a friend or a relative to let us know. Click here for contact details. The death of a child is against all the natural order of events and CLDF understands that amongst other emotions, families, relatives and friends can feel isolated and lonely. CLDF’s support continues for as long as a family wants it. CLDF’s Peace bereavement service includes a range of bereavement literature:

Celebrating anniversaries and special days - After the death of a child, anniversaries, birthdays and other special days like Christmas may be difficult, even years after the event. This leaflet contains ideas and things that have helped some families. Click here to order. Plants and shrubs - Planting a rose or clematis or growing seeds in memory of a child can be helpful. We have found a number of appropriately named flowers/shrubs, which might be nice in your garden. Click here to order. Other services Sending an anniversary card to remember a very special child – A card is sent on the anniversary of a child’s death for the first five years and longer at a parents or carers request. Click to contact the families’ officer. Memory book - Children’s Liver Disease Foundation has a Memory Book in which the name, date of birth and death of you child is beautifully written. You can come and see the book at any time. We also display the book at our biennial Memorial service and National Conference. The services include readings, songs and times for quiet personal reflection. CLDF’s memorial service takes place every two years. The service gives family and friends the opportunity to commemorate and celebrate their child’s life.
