An Introduction to Liver Units | Referral to a specialist liver unit

Referral to a specialist liver unit

Most children with liver disease start by seeing their local GP who may refer your child to a local hospital. In turn they may refer to another regional hospital. However, a GP can refer a patient directly to a specialist liver centre. The centres are also prepared to give advice to medical colleagues and are happy to have email or telephone contact.

There is now an agreed list of children's liver conditions which are treated and managed at the specialist centres.

If you would like to speak to someone about specialist services for children with a liver disease, please call the CLDF Support Team on 0121 212 6023 or click here to send an email.
